Black Ice Retrievers and Lone Willow Kennels are proud to announce the breeding between two of the most decorative intelligent "natural pointing" labs you can find. 2xNC, 3xGMPR, HRCH Reno's Black Ice, MH was bred to FC Blackwater's Last Resort "Finn". Ice had 6 healthy puppies.

One 7 week old Black female just became available due to a client hardship. Call if interested.

Scooter a pup from the first Ice / Deuce litter earns 3 Titles before turning 7 months. At 6 month's this Ice's Pups official name was CP, SHR Black Ice's Super Sonic Scooter JH. At 21 months old Scooter had passed 21 Hunt tests including his AKC MH title right at 21 months of age.

(Finn) earned his FC title in just 3 trials and won two of them! Finn won the Open at Topeka Retriever Club on 10/3/2009 and also won Missouri Valley in Omaha, NE, on 9/20/2009. He is now qualified for the National Open in Dover, DE, at only 3 years of age!

Finn is out of a breeding Dale Willard of Katy, TX, put together with with help of David Maddox. FC/AFC Blackwater Rudy X Dancin Dreamer Kate MH . Dale was kind enough to let the Swensons have the only yellow male out of the litter. The pup Dale kept is Blackwater's Cosmic War Machine, Tank, and is also QAA and running AA trials.

Steve Blythe, of Lone Willow Kennels in Burbank, SD, is currently training Finn, and the two have teamed up to be great buddies and competitors. Clint Avant did Finn's early training, and the Swenson's are thankful for his hard work. Finn started placing with Steve in 2007 with a win at Mid-Iowa Retriever Club Fall Field Trial in the derby. Finn placed in 5 Qualifying stakes with two firsts, two seconds and a third.

In his last QAA event his owner Bob Swenson placed first at SVRC spring D/Q on 06/13/09. Steve Blythe's comment was that it's much more rewarding to see the owner win with dog he's trained than winning himself. Finn's record is amazingly consistent. Finn is an absolute statue on the line. Steve says Finn is a game day player. Click here to learn more about Finn, http://lonewillowkennel.com/index.php?p=1_14_At-Stud

So whether you are looking for a highly intelligent hunt test / field trial dog, or a very natural pointing Labrador to take upland bird hunting, this just might be the litter you have been waiting for. No matter what your game is; AKC Field Trials, APLA, AKC Hunt Tests, HRC, the Super Retriever Series, are any of the Bird Dog Challenge Tournaments for $, these puppies should prove to have the capabilities to run in any these venues. After all, that's what the parents of this coming litter have done, and they have done it well at very young ages to say the least.

We strive to breed dogs that are extremely intelligent and thus are very trainable. Our pointing labs naturally point at very young ages or we don't campaign them as such, perhaps as others do. We breed for perfect health and great conformation. Above all we breed for great temperament and a superior sense of smell. After all, a dog can't find or point what they can not smell.

We enjoy placing puppies in homes where they will become the best possible versions of themselves. Labradors are a working breed and they are happiest when they get to do so.Our hope is to provide long lasting family working companions that will give you a life time of memories, the way our dogs have for us for over a quarter of a century.

We love to stay in contact with the owners of our pups and love to hear how they progress. This tells us how we are doing.

Our litters are raised in our home and not kept in outside kennels, we breed a maximum of 2 litters a year so that we have the time to work with and socialize each and every pup. Our puppies are raised underfoot and get acquainted with the real world, real fast. Our litters socialize with other dogs of various ages from 5 weeks on. Monkey see - monkey do. Our adult dogs are well mannered and very obedient, so our puppies imitate good examples.

We are accepting emails or calls now from potential buyers. Worthy owners will train their puppies to become the best possible versions of themselves. We do not dictate who should train your pup or whether you will campaign it in field trials or hunt tests. But we do expect our owners to develop the dog for some sort of working environment.

Speak directly with the owners and or pro handlers of the pups from Ice's first two litters. How better to make an informed decision about your puppy? If you are interested in learning first hand just how incredibly smart the offspring of Ice have been, just give us a call or drop us a note.

See pictures of Ice's first litter, and read personal testimonials from current owners on our new "Puppies" page.

As of 11/9/10 the pups from Ice's first litter are now two years old. These pups have several accomplishments under their belts: Multiple titles in various Hunt Tests, Tournament Hunting victories, and much much more. These pups are passing tests, earning additional titles, and winning events every weekend. Perhaps even at a hunt test or contest near you!

Every day she comes out of the kennels like a tornado moving at 70 MPH. This dogs desire to work is beyond description. There is no quit or limits in this dog. Ice is one of those one in a million animals and I am just proud to be a part of her development." — Mike Lettau

Who said labs can't point at a young age? Here is an Ice X Deuce pup pointing a pheasant wing at 42 days old. All our pups point naturally at very young ages.
