Shoot To Retrieve Tournament Accomplishments

Here is an actual photo of Ice at her first shoot to retrieve event.
She was just 16 weeks old. Look at her expression. She was
focused even at this age!

ICE, at the age of just 16 weeks, runs in her first professional tournament hunting event. Not in the puppy class but with the big boys. It was a National Upland Classic (NUCs) qualifying event held at the American Heritage Hunt Club (AHHC) in Eagle Bend, MN. on 7/23/05. Ice was just born on 3/26/05. Although she did not qualify for the final run-off that day, she did find all three birds in 17:30 (min/secs) Retrieving her first bird in a professional tournament at 1:20 in the first run of what we hoped to be a long, healthy successful career. Boy, did that turn out to be an understatement. It is also note worthy that on this day any way, she beat the current NUCS National Champion Top Gun Pointer named, "Piper", then owned by Keith Nelson

Ice at the age of 4 months and 1 week old runs at her first National Bird Dog Challenge Assoc. (NBDCA) event at the AHHC. She ran in the Hunter Division on both Saturday & Sunday 8/6 & 8/7/05.

On 8/27/05 NBDCA Qualifier Horse N Hunt Club 1st Place Doubles
** Ice was exactly 22 weeks or 5 months old almost to the day when she won this event. It is note worthy that on this day Ice beat four top ten THCC World Ranked Dogs in this Doubles Event including two from her own home named Mercedes and Riggs.

( An invitational only event to the top ranked dogs in the country) ICE takes 2nd Place in the Doubles division. She finished 2nd only to Newman who 1 month earlier took 1st Place in Singles in the World Championships. To make the top 10 run off in this event Ice ran a 6 bird plant in 4:50 seconds and beat out another dog I ran by just 2 points to advance to the finals.

2006 NBDCA Event at Hillside Springs on 2/26 she takes 3rd in Doubles

In March of 2006 at the National Bird Dog Challenge Assoc. (NBDCA) Nationals, ICE qualifies for the top 10 run off out of 75 dogs in both Singles & Doubles. An accomplishment rarely done by any dog at any age at one Nationals.

If that were not amazing enough for an 11 month old dog she also finished 1st in the qualifying round out of 75 dogs in Singles with the two fastest times of the entire event. Ice had a 2 minutes and 15 seconds run for a 3 bird plant in a 15 acre filed. And a 3 min. & 17 second run for 3 birds in a 20 acre field. She also finished 2nd out of 75 dogs in Doubles with a 6 bird plant time of just 5:40 seconds in a 17 acre field . Truly remarkable. It was this weekend when I really began to learn just how special of a Tournament Hunting dog ICE had become at such a very young age of just 11 months.

ICE goes on to win the NBDCA Doubles National Championships with a remarkable 6 bird plant in a 20 acre filed in just 4 minutes and 51 seconds beating the 2nd place dog by more than a minute and a half.

The very next weekend ICE runs at the National Upland Classics Nationals (NUCS) and she finishes in the top 10 run off again in both Singles & Doubles showing the world that her win at the NBDCA Nationals was no fluke. Here too, Ice qualified 1st over all in Singles and 2nd overall in Doubles.

2005 NUCS National Championships ICE wins 1st Place in Doubles. She qualified for both the Singles run off finishing 1st out of all dogs with 703 points and in Doubles qualified 2nd.
Ice really rocked this weekend.

Jamie Gun one of the most decorated Tournament Hunters in the world with numerous appearances at the World Championships and more than a dozen Super Major wins tells me and I quote, " ICE is simply the best Doubles dog I have ever seen in my life." WOW, coming from Jammie that says a lot.
At 11 months old, ICE wins back to back National Championships two weekends in a row. Simply unheard of.

ICE at an early age ran with more confidence than any other dog I ever seen. She does not quarter a field like a typical windshield wiper dog. I can say that because I have one in Riggs who took 2nd place in the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS a few years ago.
No, Ice runs like a pointer. She runs big and fast and cuts up a field like no other Labrador you have ever seen. She has one of the best noses on the planet and is just simply amazing. She even loops in front of running pheasants and points/boxes them in the way great pointers do. You can't train a dog to do that: the GREAT ONES JUST DO IT!

THCC 2006 Western Championships, (another Super Major) in Colorado ICE makes the top 10 run off in Pointing Doubles.

ICE has already earned over 330 THCC Championship Points and is a "Platinum" Level HALL OF FAME DOG.
